The Secret Scruff

by admin - 21:17 on 18 December 2013

Black, as well as being slimming, hides many other imperfections a girl would prefer not to have seen. From a distance our black cat looks sleek, well groomed and dapper; close up, Maia is a disgrace.

Her guilty secret was exposed by my latest test shots with the new 50mm Pentax lens which revealed her to be covered in fluff, dust and a variety of stray hairs. Matchgirl was mortified when the evidence was shown to her. Maia didn't care.

I'm still getting to grips with a lens that at the widest apertures has a depth of field measured in millimetres. No wonder focus is a challenge. But I'm happy so far – both these snaps used ISO 1600 yet there's barely a trace of noise.

Pandora looked as elegant as usual in her close-up. Willow declined the opportunity.
