The Long-tailed Locusts
by admin - 12:18 on 15 January 2014
Redpolls and long-tailed tits continue to play hard to get. Since a brief sighting two days ago, when a pair was observed through the back window tucking into the weeds, redpolls have been absent. Maybe they've stripped the plants bare.
The tits are a little more predictable. Around midday, a gang appears from nowhere to swarm over the peanut feeder and coconut shell, whistling and squeaking between mouthfuls. They're gone after five or ten activity-filled minutes.
Snappery has been unsuccessful, some missed opportunities involving the inadvisability of picking up the Pentax and leaving an unguarded lunch at the mercy of apparently starving cats.
Only one halfway decent snap has escaped the delete bin. I'll persevere.
