A Cat's-eye View
by admin - 15:57 on 13 June 2014
One of the problems of alfresco cat snappery is that if I'm standing my subjects are usually six feet lower down than me, which can be a poor angle for composition. Even kneeling doesn't always produce a decent shot.
Catching moggies in a tree can even things up, although then they're often too high and obscured by leaves – an increasingly terrified Matchgirl can testify to the fearless growth of their climbing skills.
So today I attempted some ground-level shots during a walk up the lane. As use of the right-angle viewer is problematic with fast-moving subjects I resorted to putting the Pentax on the ground, pointing it in the general direction of the chosen feline, and hoping the auto-focus was locked on to it rather than the scenery.
Usually it wasn't, but a couple of snaps turned out as well as some very flat light allowed.
