A Deluge And A Delayed Decision
by admin - 23:32 on 09 October 2014
It's fortunate that Matchgirl was away in Shetland when the wind howled and the rain poured down on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning because she was spared the sight of a flooded garden and water lapping up to the bottom of the door. Half an inch more and we would have had a damp carpet, but quickly placed sandbags, excavation of the drainage channel, and – of most help – a lessening of the deluge saved our floor coverings.
Three bored cats spent a morning indoors, unwilling to get their paws wet. I don't blame them.
The floodwaters have now subsided, leaving behind drifts of soggy leaves and a wasteland of tree debris. The next bonfire should be a good one.
That's the only excitement apart from my audition with The Mystery Band last night, at the end of which I was assured I'd receive the verdict this morning. Instead I learned that two more prospects will get their turn in front of the X Factor judges on Sunday. The band members are taking no chances in finding their new musical mate.
They'd better make a decision soon – their next gig is on the 25th. Whoever gets the call will have a short time to polish a lot of songs.
