Musical Chairs

The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney (among many others) prove that rock isn't just for the yoof, but it's still a surprise to hear that Norman, drummer of noted Inverness band BIRO, is to take time out so he can have a hip replaced.
This is bad news for BIRO (that's Black Isle Rock Orchestra, for the uninitiated) but handy for City Limits who after our sterling performance at the Bandstand Bar on Saturday have been given the Hogmanay gig that had suddenly become available. We also gained another date in December, although I don't know if that's medically related.
All bodes well for a busy 2015 so I'll keep my fingers crossed that old age doesn't creep up on me for a while yet.
I can't imagine a time when I'll want to retire from rock but it does happen – guitarist Edwin of another noted Inverness band, Ezra, is to quit in January. His replacement will be Michael, formerly of The Strays, The Deeds and The Unnamed Blues Band. It's a small musical world.
