Lighting Up Time
by admin - 23:22 on 05 November 2014
November 5th was marked at The Rural Retreat not by fireworks and bonfire but by the lighting of the coal fire for the first time this autumn. Winter's not far away now.
The Pride showed no interest whatsoever, which is disappointing – a snap of contented cats lazing in front of the fireplace would be a fine addition to their album but they stuck to their usual snoozing spots of rocking chair, sofa, shelf above the radiator and large cat bed next to the radiator (of which Maia is very possessive). Pandora's also making increasing use of the purple throne next to the other radiator which has been ignored all summer. Winter's not far away now.
It's fortunate that the computer room (formerly The Kittenry) is the warmest room in the cottage during daytime, for work has begun in earnest (almost) on the winter edition of Chatterbox (out on December 1). However, work will pause tomorrow for me to put in some more solo bass rehearsal ahead of City Limits' gig at The Station in Alness on Friday.
This, we've belatedly learned, is not just a gig, but also a charity Casino Night. Black Tie is encouraged, so the band will have to smarten itself up for the evening. The results will be interesting.
