A Pair Of Pedros
by admin - 15:15 on 11 May 2015
Today was the day of portraits and two Pedros: Old Pedro, a gardener; and Young Pedro, an arader, or maker of rustic furniture, olive wood gates and other timber-related products. Both put up with the invasion of their workplaces with good humour and patience.
Old Pedro has a characterful, lived-in, jovial face topped by a well-used straw hat. Strangely, many of the group's female members were more drawn to young Pedro who has greying yet boyish curls, a huge smile, and a donkey called Rosita who's employed to crop grass and weeds in the garden.
Last call of the morning was at the windmill-turned-museum in San Luis where I attempted low-light snaps of the wooden cogs that used to turn the sails – a total failure – and some shots of the sails themselves, turned into arty mono with the freebie editing program installed on my netbook. (Photoshop's at home on the Mac.)
Tonight the tripods are employed for the first time when we line up along the harbour at Calas Fons to capture fading light and street lights.
A few snaps from Day 3:
Old Pedro in one of his fields and back in the shade.
Young Pedro in his workshop and some arty windmill sails.
Plus a couple of snaps from late on Day 2:
Early evening light in Binibecca.
