Indecision In Ciutedella
by admin - 18:01 on 12 May 2015
A beautiful medieval/Moorish town such as Ciutedella, Menorca's old capital, should inspire a feast of snappery – and so it did amongst most of the gang who travelled there today. There's amazing architecture, markets and cafes and lots of people, most of whom don't mind having a camera poked in their face.
Perhaps that was my problem: with so many subjects to choose from I was a bit lost about where to start, and rather than snap away at everything I became over-reserved with the shutter button. A few scenes were captured but far fewer than the place deserved.
We reached Ciutedella via Monte Toro, the monastery at the island's highest point, but left within twenty minutes, driven out by hordes of tourists intent on the interior and the grand statue outside, dwarfed and surrounded by phone masts. The view from the car park was worth the trip, though.
Things could be worse, however. Matchgirl reports rain and 40mph winds sweeping across the Highlands where she's taken a week off office work to make the most of my absence, and filled some of it with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. No wonder The Pride is bored...
A couple of snaps from Day 4:
A street in Ciutedella; The view from Monte Toro.
And a snap from yesterday's evening session:
Twilight at Calas Fons.
