Ready For The Summer
by admin - 20:09 on 22 May 2015
It's been a tough week but worth the effort. The Summer edition of Black Isle Chatterbox is complete barring a few minor corrections and its transformation into a pdf, ready to be placed on the printer at Chatterbox HQ (now an even danker and dustier corner of Avoch Community Centre after the Sea Scouts completely took over our joint office – journalism on the bottom rung holds challenges never faced by the Great Northern Media Empire).
That gives us a week to overcome the expected print dramas and distribute another bumper 48-page edition to the eager readers of the Black Isle. I'll also find out, when I make deliveries and collect returns and cash, how many we sold of the previous edition. A thousand is within touching distance.
Highlights include an interview with a go-ahead Rosemarkie chef, a VE Day veteran from Avoch, a new arts and crafts gallery in Cromarty, a retiring doctor from Fortrose and an outdoors instructor who's set up his own business taking people up Munros and out to sea. He features on the cover – one of the snaps I took on Monday – staring adventurously into the distance.
All this for only £1.50. How can you resist?
Feline Update: Willow seems none the worse after yesterday's unexpected feast. Maia, however, has gastric problems of a loose nature. Whether that's connected to her opportunistic gluttony, I can't say. Life is full with cats.
