More Drumming Dramas
by admin - 15:48 on 19 July 2015
Drummers continue to be a source of consternation. Just two days after Matt announced that he'd be unable to make next Saturday's Strays gig because of work, Mike pulled out of last night's City Limits gig with only four hours' notice. His excuse was that his wife had gone into labour. Where's his commitment to the band?
Fortunately, Norman from Biro was available to take his place, which he did with no rehearsal and only a vague idea how some of the songs went. The crowd, at a birthday bash inside a Black Isle barn, didn't seem to notice, or maybe they didn't care. Lots of beer and dancing may have been connected. The bonus was that it took me only fifteen minutes to get home afterwards.
Who needs drummers anyway? The Strays' Balconie Inn gig may now be back on, as a drum-free unplugged session. We'll rehearse one evening this week to find out how much of the set is feasible, and there's always a twenty-minute blues jam if we need to fill time.
