A Fanfare For A Fieldfare
by Russell Turner - 22:48 on 28 January 2016
It's been a while since I put new snappery on the blog. The urge seems to have waned a little, although I'm sure it will return. However, the birds are still fed and still provide some entertaining sights through the living room window, especially when the gangs of goldfinches or long-tailed tits muscle in and take over for a fifteen-minute feeding frenzy.
Other visitors are more reserved. Our lone fieldfare (at least, I've only ever seen one at a time) prefers to mooch around at the bottom of the garden, looking for naturally provided sustenance or gorging on crabapples.
So here is he or she (I don't know the difference), snapped on the first day of 2016 but only now uploaded to Flickr.
Publishing Update: It's been a good day for Bassman Books. The second print run of Memories of a Ben Line Man was collected on Monday and already a quarter of the books are gone. Maybe we should have printed more. Demand is great in Shetland, where several individuals have bought copies and the Shetland Times Bookshop has taken almost fifty. Those Vikings are a discerning bunch.
