Running Out Of Excuses
by Russell Turner - 16:54 on 20 February 2016
Just some dotting of I's and crossing of T's to be done (those apostrophes look wrong) and the next edition of award-winning Black Isle Chatterbox will be ready to be printed. It's another packed edition, with a cracking front cover thanks to local portrait snapper Nynke Jansen.
The bad news is that March brings with it more spare time and possibly less inclement weather so I'll have no excuse for not clearing the gutters and raking the lawn of a wintersworth of leaf debris and fallen branches. The snowdrops are in full bloom, the primroses have woken and daffodil leaves are beginning to appear so I can't pretend that spring is not far away, even if we've seen frost the last few mornings and Matchgirl's swathed in her comfort blanket most evenings. Cats are not keen on venturing far from home either.
But at the moment it's still February, days are damp and short and I can justify my sloth for another week or two. Unless Matchgirl says differently, that is.
