A Giant Leap For Chatterbox
by Russell Turner - 16:04 on 21 May 2016
Another edition of the award-winning Black Isle Chatterbox is almost ready to print – and on our shiny new printer in our less-than-shiny new premises.
Chatterbox HQ has moved to part of a rented, secondhand Portakabin on Avoch Industrial Estate. This may sound like a come down but in fact is a step up, with more space and less faff involved. Whether it's any warmer and less damp in the winter remains to be seen.
The new printer had been in place for a couple of weeks but was for show only until yesterday when the man from HOE arrived to show us how it works. Pretty much the same as the last one, it turns out.

The tricky bit was getting it to talk to the Chatterbox Mac. I'd naively assumed that, the correct driver in place, all I'd need to do was plug in a USB or ethernet cable. Not so. IP addresses were involved, and the Terminal (which is for proper IT geeks).
All was well in the end. A test copy of the previous edition was printed which looked much sharper and with richer colours. Or maybe that was wishful thinking.
Printing will begin next week for distribution on the 30th. Another cracking edition. I don't know how we do it.
