Hot Days In The Highlands
by Russell Turner - 20:34 on 06 June 2016
Another day, and the heatwave continues. Not that I was able to make much use of it because today was filled with tidying, a consequent trip to the recycling centre, book and Chatterbox admin, and a visit to the optician to choose some new glasses.
So it's a shame that the good weather is forecast to end tomorrow afternoon amid thunder and lightning. We've been lucky for too long. More work is needed in the garden but the temptation of a jaunt on Kawasaki San may be too great – it's a while since I've done the Loch Ness roads.
The Pentax will go along for the ride and attempt to capture some sunny scenes before the great downpour. It was in action this morning when one of this year's new crop of great spotted woodpeckers checked out feeding possibilities in The Rural Retreat's garden.
A couple of days earlier the subject was Pandora, exploring the foliage along the lane near the cottage.
Sadly, she and the rest of The Pride will never again be able to explore the derelict cart shed opposite the old steading, where iconic snaps of her have been captured, and Tess before her. Work to convert it into a house is now well advanced. Life is change.
