A Vandal Unmasked
by Russell Turner - 18:53 on 18 October 2016
Life with multiple moggies is not for the house proud. Hair all over carpets and curtains, clawed furniture, dismembered rodents, litter tray accidents and careless breakages are just some of the challenges involved.
Cats also like to push things off shelves, but deliberate vandalism is rare. Or so I thought.
Paint has flaked off the spare bedroom door for some time – something I’d put down to age as redecoration of The Rural Retreat is at least ten years overdue. However, this morning I awoke to the sound of scratching and the sight of Pandora, seated in front of the door, picking off paint with extended claws and great deliberation. The door was wide open so she didn’t even have the excuse of attempting to push it aside.
Matchgirl’s mentioned on several occasions her desire to get busy with paint pots. An extended cattery incarceration may be required unless she fancies the addition of some freestyle paw painting. We’ll see.
Is this the face of a vandal?
