Lite And Lights
by Russell Turner - 19:24 on 24 December 2016
City Limits Lite survived the journey to Portree despite wind, rain, sleet and occasional hail. Just another Highland winter. Conditions did hit crowd numbers but there were enough people inside the hotel to create a good atmosphere and leaver the management happy.
Even happier was the guy who couldn’t believe it when we played Hendrix’s Fire, and everyone who requested Wagon Wheel. The third time, we discovered that the country song could be turned into a reggae. I suspect it will be again.
Next morning, packed and ready to head home, I discovered a new warning light in Son of Seat – which for several months has boasted an impressive array of blinking symbols because of a dodgy connection somewhere that will be fixed (I hope) at the forthcoming service.
The new light (the existence of which I’d never known) informed me that one of the headlight bulbs had blown. Fortunately, as we’re out again tonight at the Bandstand Bar, I was able to make a short detour to Lochcarron on the way back and find a replacement. Driving to Nairn and back one-eyed, in Barbara’s successor, Storm Conor, would not be a good idea.
