The Clean Machine

by Russell Turner - 20:24 on 10 May 2017

The Pentax came home yesterday after its brief stay at Ffordes in Beauly where the dust that peppered its sensor was removed by proper professionals.

“Was this the first time it’s been done?” I was asked. The staff are all Very Serious Lenses (shelves and shelves of new and pre-owned cameras, huge lenses, tricky tripods and fancy camera bags prove that) and were obviously unimpressed by my DIY cleaning efforts. As was I, or I wouldn’t have taken it there, but there was no need to rub it in.

Ffordes’ skills cost £45, fortunately cut in half by my production of a camera club membership card. Now I’m reluctant to swap lenses and let dust back in (the worry will pass) so the 18-55 stayed on when I went for a walk this afternoon with The Pride. This made it difficult to capture any feline close-ups but local flora was less of a problem.

One orchid-like plant caught my eye but I’m unable to identify it. Anyone got any ideas?

The plant is Ajuga Reptans or Bugleweed. I think.

That's what I've heard elsewhere so you must be right.
