Motors And Maternity

Grandson of Seat’s windscreen woes continue. New spider-leg cracks appeared within just a few days of the chip being repaired, so yesterday a second Autoglass operative found his way (eventually) to The Rural Retreat to examine the problem. His verdict was not good.
That’s why, on Wednesday next week he or one of his colleagues will return to replace the screen. The good news is that he referred to it as “a warranty job”, which implies it’s a follow-on from the first work and thus covered by guarantee. If not, I’ll have to stump up £75 insurance excess.
Vehicle problems have also beset City Limits. The future of our rusting and often unreliable Transit van is in the balance after registered keeper Keith found difficulty starting it earlier this week. The options are another repair (we’re not keen), complete replacement (expensive), downgrade to a smaller van (possible), or transport gear to gigs in two cars and hire a van for the biggest gigs when we need the full-volume PA (the most likely solution).
All options will be costed and viability calculated. A decision will be made soon.
In the meantime, the band’s pre-maternity break continues with Jenna expected to become a mum for the second time next week, ahead of gigs on the 23rd and 24th. It will be a close-run thing.
