Too Big A Risk
by Russell Turner - 14:23 on 08 December 2017
The aftermath of the flu continues to follow me around. Yesterday I battled my way through Storm Caroline to keep an appointment to give blood in Inverness. However, the combination of recent illness and air travel was too big a risk for the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service, which sent me and my blood away. At least I got a mug of tea and a biscuit before I left.
I’m to return in two weeks, at which time I’ll receive my gold badge for fifty visits (rather than fifty pints – rejected donations count the same as actual ones).
Also deferred is today’s training run. The storm has passed but snow has taken its place. I’ve no objection to running through a winter wonderland but horizontal snow and sleet showers hold no appeal, and the gaps between then haven’t lasted long enough for the three sets of ten-minute runs I had planned. All being well I’ll be out tomorrow.
