Ready For My Close-up
by Russell Turner - 14:59 on 13 April 2018
Matchgirl, as has been well documented, doesn’t like being photographed. That’s why there’s very little evidence of her sporting achievements, which is a shame. I, on the other hand, while preferring the back end of the camera have no problem being in front of it.
So when an email dropped into my inbox offering a permanent cut-price record of my forthcoming participation in the London Marathon I was happy to send away my money to official photographer MarathonFoto.
For £50 (a 23% pre-race saving) I’ll be able to download hi res images of every photo featuring runner 7078, plus a special race highlights package. Some people might find that expensive, especially as there’s a good chance that on every photo I’ll be grimacing, wheezing or walking, but decent photographers earn their money. And as this may be my last marathon, as well as the first, I might as well take away every souvenir I can.
It also means there’s another incentive to reach the end and, if I can, cross the finish line with a smile.
