A Close Escape

A few days ago it looked like spring had arrived. Now it’s cold, raining, blowing a gale and forecast to get worse – not a good time to begin half marathon training.
Yesterday’s first run, an easy 30mins, was completed successfully; today, the motivation for 45mins easy is low but it will have to be done because tomorrow looks even more inclement. Such is life.
Further proof that life is unpredictable came with the news that City Limits’ Mother’s Day gig on Sunday has been scrapped, with no explanation. Maybe my photo led to a spate of cancelled bookings.
Rather than bemoan the loss of the gig, I’ll look on the bright side. If the event had been scratched weeks ago, or never been offered in the first place, I’d have signed up for Sunday’s Callander 10k. I still could, but a forecast of heavy rain and 33mph wind combined with a feels like temperature of 4ºC means I’ve definitely dodged a bullet.
Let’s hope the weather’s eased off by the following Sunday when I’m down in Wakefield. That’s one trip I won’t cancel.
