Tales of a Groggy Moggy

by admin - 19:46 on 09 May 2012

According to Bess's packed diary, today she was to make another visit to Dr Vet for a quick check-up to confirm her return to rude good health.

For several days she'd eaten like a horse and stalked The Rural Retreat's birds with bad intent (and, fortunately, very limited success) but yesterday she was a changed cat – lethargic and unwilling to eat despite obvious hunger.

Today we found out why: her pre-Matchgirl kittenhood feeding deficiencies have again caught up with her. Four more teeth had to be removed today, leaving the poor puss with barely that number still in place. A comprehensive MoT was carried out at the same time and blood and urine samples taken for an analysis that should settle once and for all the question of whether heart, kidneys or something else is the cause of her troubles.

When the information has been gathered, Dr Vet will consult Professor Expert and between them they'll come up with a diagnosis that will shape the rest of the patient's life. Matchgirl, it hardly goes without saying, is filled with worry.

Recuperating Cat

A groggy moggy came home in the late afternoon and chose the outdoors in which sleep off what was left of her anaesthetic. Poor puss.

Marten Update: Yesterday Squirrel James boasted about his first Bushnell marten video so last night I switched from stills to movies and caught Mrs Marten (I think) in action in The Nutella Tree. She's still a star.

Here? Is all that sweet Nutella going to make those martens fat and lazy? :-)))
