Progress in the Garden
by admin - 20:59 on 11 May 2012
The Recuperating Cat is taking a little longer to recover from her latest trauma than she has in the past. Losing four teeth, and being allowed fewer painkilling drugs so there's no risk to her kidneys, mean that life is quiet for the poorly puss. But she's making progress – it won't be long before The Scourge of the Siskins is back in action.
By then, Bess will have a new upheaval to face. Yesterday, Mr Gardener and I (honest) spent several hours clearing the ground around the willow tree then planting a variety of alpine flora. More planting, on the other side of the garden, will be carried out next week, which Mr Gardener trusts me to do unsupervised. I'm sure that Matchgirl will be happy to take his place.
Plants don't grow on trees, so I have my fingers crossed for a lucrative month of fairs and markets at which discerning customers will snap up my snaps and cards. If you wish to join them, I now have a Market Dates page to help you plan ahead.
I also have my first presence in the wacky world of Facebook: not as myself – I'm still resisting that – but as one of the Highland Traders group. You can like us if you like; I won't be upset if you don't.
All this excitement has left little time for snappery, but I did manage to add another tree sparrow to the collection.
Book Update: The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery's extended exhibition at Eden Court came to an abrupt end yesterday when the next exposition, which had not turned up, finally did so. Shame. Good BBoBIS news was to be found in today's Ross-shire Journal which featured an article on our awards shortlist place. With luck, this should garner many more votes. You can cast yours via the link at the top of the page.
