The Moggy And The Hoggy
by admin - 22:18 on 13 June 2012
Sometimes it's good to ignore the Pentax and just watch, which is what Matchgirl and I did last night when Young Marten dropped by around 10pm. There was probably enough light to get some snaps, but as none would have been better than those I've already got it wasn't worth the bother.
Despite more than three years of martens on the garden gate there's still a thrill when watching a wild animal from just a few feet away, especially when they look you in the eye, hold your gaze for a moment, then return to their food. She was back tonight, around the same time, to give us another show.
Earlier, the gate was graced very briefly by a sparrowhawk – no chance of a snap, unfortunately.
The Bushnell captured its usual crop of martens overnight, plus Mystery Moggy halfway up The Nutella Stump; some cats like chocolate and peanut butter too.
MM had unexpected company when he returned to ground level – a hedgehog who wasn't impressed by strangers in the garden. The moggy left and the hoggy stayed.
Our own moggy looked much brighter today, thanks to yesterday's drug-taking. She'll get more tomorrow. Bess will be an even happier cat.
