She's An Old Girl – Official

by admin - 22:25 on 19 July 2012

No, I don't refer to Matchgirl – partly because I wouldn't dare but mainly because it's not true. The she in question is, as you've probably guessed, our now-more-than-middle-aged-moggy.

The latest health scare followed the observation that Bess was breathing more heavily than usual whilst involved in the taxing activity of yet another snooze in the garden. Matchgirl timed her respiration at thirty-eight breaths per minute: around ten more than average, Mr Google informed her.

Another trip to Dr Death's Clinic occurred shortly after that where Dr Vet's holiday relief, Dr Very Young Vet, examined an acquiescent kitty and declared that the patient will be increasingly prone to the problems of feline ageing. More pills were prescribed.

In The Shade

This doesn't square with the cold-hearted killer I described recently, so maybe I was wrong to absolve a sparrowhawk of blame for the deceased bird a couple of days ago, especially as yesterday morning I saw one with another victim in its talons.

Marten Update: We enjoyed two visits tonight: Young Marten at around 9.30 and (possibly) Mrs Marten an hour later who gave us some very photogenic poses on The Nutella Stump. Shame the light was too dim to capture them.
