Marathon Matchgirl – Half Way There

by admin - 16:11 on 14 October 2012

Today was a huge day for Matchgirl – her successful completion of the Aviemore Half Marathon, and in a respectable time. I won't steal her thunder, for she'll write all about it on her running blog (although at the moment she's yet to post).

The only down side of her day of glory was the discovery that she's classed as a "super veteran", such is her state of temporal decrepitude. Maybe that's why she suffered blisters. There was no goodie bag either, which seems a bit cheapskate of the organisers and sponsors.

But she has a medal and a great psychological boost towards completion of the London Marathon next year. What a star – I never doubted you.

Kittens on the March

I'd like to report that this new-found confidence led to her lifting the veil of secrecy with which she shrouds herself, but it's not to be. So the snap of strolling kittens deemed safe for public viewing features a fuzzy-faced Matchgirl to ensure she's not mobbed in the street by fans.

Band Update: Such was the excitement of yesterday's kitten-walking that I forgot to report a very rare event – a Strawdogs gig. You didn't miss it because it was a wedding reception and you weren't invited. All went well, which is fortunate because our calendar now features a charity gig at the Jubilee Hall, Evanton on November 17 and a real gig at Beauly Legion on December 8. Could this be the first of many? Watch this space.

A family outing lovely, maybe Maia will join in one day, you never know!
Good luck with the band...

Temporal decrepitude - even as a fellow sufferer, I love that phrase! And as for kittens on leads, well, that does bring a smile to the face!
