A Thief In The Night

Cats continue to behave badly around The Rural Retreat, but this time the main culprit isn't a member of The Pride.
Mystery Moggy swaggered into the garden yesterday evening, jumped on to the gate and began to hoover up nuts, raisins and Nutella intended for pine martens. She/he (I don't know) left only after my second shout of outrage.
The gate was resupplied; twenty minutes later, the moggy returned for seconds. And again was reluctant to leave.
Mrs Marten arrived an hour after that to discover that her supper was smaller than usual. Or maybe bigger – perhaps Mystery Moggy regularly beats her to free food?
The Fearless Ones are still less than angelic. Willow continues to enjoy her kitchen counter strolls and Pandora has taken to using my sheepskin body-warmer as an aid to manicure rather than any of the three scratching posts available inside the Retreat.
It's probably best not to think about what they get up to while we're asleep.
Book Update: The latest issue of Scotland Outdoors magazine arrived today, containing in its reviews page words of praise for The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery. We look forward to a corresponding surge in sales.
