The Power Of The Apostrophe
by admin - 22:48 on 17 December 2012
The final market this year was a modest success, netting me enough profit to buy Matchgirl the Christmas gift which will make her life complete. I hope. I'll find out on Christmas Day.
My neighbour's stall, heaped with bun's and cake's, was much more popular and did a roaring trade. Free apostrophes obviously make all the difference; maybe I should sell photo's, book's and card's.
Christmas is already here for moggies. Matchgirl returned from her trip to Inverness with a cat bed designed for two (or one mega cat) to supplement the half-sized version used by Maia and whichever kitten gets there first. I'd expected contrary cats to continue using the old bed but Maia and Pandora snuggled in without hesitation.
Our usual festive tree has been replaced by A Yuletide Mantelpiece decorated with baubles, sparkle and Matchgirl's herd of glittery deer. A snap may appear tomorrow. We have our fingers crossed that The Fearless Ones continue to be unable to access the mantelpiece, at least until after Christmas, although both have been noted making an assessment of the leaping distance.
Festive cards are attached to the bannister – a profound leap of faith on Matchgirl's part. If they survive feline attentions until the twelfth day of Christmas I'll be amazed.
Injury Update: Matchgirl's physio reckons her knee pain (which eased a little overnight) is caused by a back problem. So running is off the agenda for a week. Despite this, I'm certain we'll see Marathon Matchgirl in London in April, sprinting past the guy in the duck costume at the finishing line. You can do it.
