What A Grey Day

The Saturday before Christmas: the decorations are up, the cards sent, the presents bought (apart from whatever Matchgirl lavishes on three spoiled cats) and work finished for two weeks. All that's left to do is a small amount of food shopping to enable us to enjoy the traditional festive veggie lasagne (Matchgirl being of the non-meat-eating persuasion).
So was joy unconfined today?
No – because plans for outdoor activities with and without feline followers have been scuppered by ceaseless rain that's left the day as gloomy as the end of the world. Maybe the Mayans were a few days out in their calculations. The sandbags could soon be piled up again if the puddles in the garden grow any bigger.
In consequence, solstitial celebrations have stayed downbeat and indoors; even Pandora The Great Explorer has shown little interest in open-air wanderings.
At least the shortest day is behind us and spring drawing closer. I can hardly wait.
Strictly Update: I've written little about SCD this year because none of the celebs have caught my interest and Ola went out so early. Shame. However, we'll be watching tonight, me supporting Dani and Vincent, Matchgirl cheering for anyone but Denise. She can be a hard woman.
