Go South, Young Man
by admin - 16:07 on 02 October 2013
As has been mentioned in these pages several times recently, life is quiet (apart from the occasional cat/vole interface). All that changes a week next Tuesday when I head down south (south of Scotland, that is) to begin my Speaking Tour of the Borders.
Fortunately for my audiences, there won't be too much speaking as much of my presentation, first shown at Dingwall Camera Club, is contained in an audio visual spectacular that describes, among other things, how I returned to snappery and became part of the team behind an award-winning book.
The first group lucky enough to be graced by my presence is Berwick Camera Club, on October 15, when my presentation will make its international debut, just across the border in England. The following two nights will find me in Earlston and Hawick before a return to The Rural Retreat on Friday.
Very decently, Dee and Don will provide B&B so if I can sell a few books along the way there's a chance that the trip will break even. A bonus would be discovery by a high-flying member of the publishing world who happens to be in the audience, or someone with a blockbuster book they don't know how to get into print, but I'll settle for taking inspiration from a fresh part of the world and accumulating a set of good snaps. Cue the rain.
Matchgirl, who will stay home to mind The Pride, gets her retaliation in early by leaving tomorrow for a very long weekend of business and pleasure in London and Brighton. And she's looking forward to some quality time alone with The Pride while I'm gone, swiftly followed by another jaunt to Shetland.
Ships that pass in the night, that's us. Namibia seems a long, long time ago...
