Here Comes The Judge

My fear of miserable Borders weather was realised today – grey, featureless skies and dull light. And that was before the monsoon swept in during the afternoon. Some snappery took place but I suspect that none will be worth keeping. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Tonight's talk in The Great Borders Tour took place in Earlston, upstairs in the Red Lion, which was a definite step up from a village hall. A crowd similar in size to last night's heard the talk, the fluency of which has improved markedly. There was even praise for the musical backing, though again only one book sale. Times are hard.
After that I had to judge my first competition, choosing the best three prints and projected images in the club's monthly competition from an offering that displayed (in my humble opinion) a wide range of ability. My decisions, and the reasons for them, were accepted without bricks being thrown so they must have been good ones.
Proof that it's a small world was furnished by one couple, who are regular Black Isle visitors, and another who'd been in Namibia two months before Matchgirl and I enjoyed our honeymoon there. Happy days.
