So Much To Do
by admin - 16:35 on 06 September 2015
Where's the time gone? At least I have an excuse for lack of blog in that I've been busy, not (just) lazy. Chatterbox is in the shops (the last one was, to my surprise, an even bigger seller than the previous record-breaker – by six copies); content for the Winter edition has already begun to arrive. And after three weeks, spare time and good weather coincided yesterday, allowing me to get the mower out. A gardener's work is never done.
Musical life has also been hectic. Last weekend City Limits played in Nairn on Saturday and Aviemore on Sunday (where by 10.45pm most of the bikers had gone home or gone to bed, but that's life) and The Strays played another drummerless acoustic gig last night at an Evanton party.
While all this has been going on I've been working on not one but two forthcoming new titles from Bassman Books: Memories of a Ben Line Man by former merchant navy officer Stuart Edmond; and Rosemarkie Connections, the second book by local historian Freda Bassindale.
There's more. Squirrel James (remember him?) has mooted the possibility of the team behind The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery reuniting for a follow-up. When I'll be able to take snaps that aren't of cats or for Chatterbox remains to be seen.
So it was good to relax this morning in front of the TV and catch up on last night's Strictly launch. I'd already chosen Katie as my favourite (as Cheri's not back and the producers have inexplicably failed to lure Fiona Bruce into the ballroom). Teaming her with Anton was a bonus.
