Ready For The Winter
by admin - 20:05 on 09 September 2015
We've had dry days this week – we've even enjoyed some sun – but The Pride knows that September is here and autumn is just around the corner.
Pandora has made use of The Purple Throne after ignoring it all summer (the snap is from her kittenhood); Maia has rediscovered the large cat bed. Soon, The Rural Retreat's feline residents will leave garden wildlife in peace and spend their evenings close to radiators or huddled beside Matchgirl and her comfort blanket. Voles and shrews will be delighted.
The grass still grows, however, so the mower will be out again tomorrow or Friday before autumn begins properly on Saturday with a forecast deluge. Son of Seat needs a good cleaning too – the work never ends.
Fortunately we have a holiday to look forward to in a few weeks when Matchgirl and I spend some time in Northumberland where The Outdoor Queen hopes to trek along some of Hadrian's Wall. Anticipation of this also compensates for the boastful email from snapper Cathy who's back in Menorca on PhotoActive Philip's final Spanish fiesta. Not that I'm jealous.
