New Songs And An Old Friend
by Russell Turner - 12:45 on 15 September 2015
BikerMike picked a good weekend to pass through, for last Friday's flying visit during his circumnavigation of Great Britain coincided with a gigless weekend. This allowed us to enjoy a relaxing meal at the Royal in Cromarty (Sutor Creek was packed) and catch up on gossip.
City Limits almost scored a last-minute cancellation on Saturday, when our friends at Johnny Foxes made an urgent appeal, but another band got the job before we'd confirmed availability. Rock's a cut-throat business and you can't afford to hang about.
However, we won't have to wait too long to be on stage again as we're booked to play there this Saturday (and have another fill-in slot the following Friday). That's why a rare City Limits rehearsal was held in Scorguie Guide Hut last Sunday. Several new songs were attempted, including So What by Pink and 80s classic Don't You Want Me Baby by Human League. A synth song shouldn't work with our line-up, but it does. The audience singalong at Foxes will be entertaining.
We've another rehearsal planned for Wednesday, and even more new songs. We spoil the crowds.
But the most notable recent event was a seventh wedding anniversary. How did that happen so fast? It was marred slightly by Matchgirl's departure in the afternoon for Shetland so we'll have our official anniversary dinner on Friday.
