A Jam With Sam

by Russell Turner - 21:03 on 13 December 2015

City Limits' future looked a little brighter after Keith and I got together on Friday night with prospective new drummer Sam. The chemistry was good. Much blues and old school rock was played, despite him being of the same youthful vintage as our axe hero; at a pinch we could go out as City Limits Lite and gig now.

No date has been set for Mike to hand over the official drumsticks. Watch this space.

Ashley was unable to attend the jam but we've two gigs next weekend and another following that so a sighting should be made soon. Again, no date has been set for her permanent departure. We've yet to begin a search for her successor. Maybe we'll take a change of direction and become a full-time three-piece.

The good news is that our 2016 diary continues to fill up. The Bandstand Bar in Nairn is the latest venue to avail itself of our services with three gigs confirmed and more promised. Our debut on Skye next week could bring in even more. The future may be uncertain but looks promising.

Literary Update: Sales of Bassman Books' two new titles continue to do well, and that despite the non-appearance of a promised story in the Ross-shire Journal. You can't trust journalists.

Feline Update: Increasingly wintry weather means that The Pride, mindful of its delicate paws, is suffering from cabin fever. Any day now, Matchgirl will come home with three sets of moggy footwear so her darlings can run carefree in an icy garden. I'll have the Pentax ready.
