So Far, So Good

Just 29 days until t’ Yorkshire Marathon. The good news is that my niggle has eased and all looks well for my next run, on Monday (or possibly Tuesday). Matchgirl the injury expert, home from Shetland, instantly diagnosed an iliotibial band issue when I pointed out where I felt the soreness. It’s the most common runners’ complaint, she told me. Weak glutes and/or overuse may be to blame but my slightly twisted leg may also be at fault.
Stopping, rather than doing the macho thing of trying to run off the irritation (which wouldn’t have worked and would have made it worse) was the right thing to do. My start at t’ Marathon is still on.
But there’s bad news too – now Triathlon Cathy has an issue, which may be more than a niggle, putting her place on the start line in doubt. Nobody said that running was easy. Hopefully she’ll put it behind her soon.
There’s something else for the marathon quartet to look forward to. Tickets for Strictly Live in Glasgow go on sale in a few days and another joint outing is planned. With luck we’ll all be healthy by the time February comes around.
