Just Another Twit
by Russell Turner - 19:31 on 29 November 2018
I’ve never seen the point of Twitter, but since a couple of days ago I’m now one of the Twitterati. Or possibly the Twits.
This isn’t because I think the world needs to know my every thought on politics, sport, entertainment or reality TV. It’s simply because there’s a Twitter competition to win free entry to the Yorkshire Marathon (and associated races) or a refund if, like me, you’ve already paid the cash.
So Twitter has now been joined by Russ the Runner, who will use his new digital gateway exclusively to keep an eye on the runnery world, especially that of the London and Yorkshire Marathons and Leamington Spa Half Marathon (of which I’m still considering an entry).
If you’re a Twit and want to follow me, the handle is @RunnerRuss.
Today’s big runnery news is that the London Marathon countdown has reached only 150 days to go. I marked this milestone by braving cold, wind and the threat of rain by completing my latest 40-minute pre-training programme training run. This time last year I might have put it off for a day in the hope of better weather, but after enduring t’ Great Yorkshire Rain Festival I was less bothered by dodgy conditions.
Although if it had been two hours, rather than 40 minutes, I might have been less keen. I’m still really a fair-weather runner.
