Making Plans At Last
by Russell Turner - 16:27 on 03 March 2021
Spring didn’t last long. After one sunny run in shorts the last two have found me back in tights and hat to counter damp, cold air. At least the wind has dropped.
But prospects continue to improve. Today’s run – admittedly a mere 40mins easy at 10:53 pace – was completed with an average heart rate of 118bpm, which is remarkably low. Last night, filled with optimism, I booked two nights at a York AirBnB for the 10k on August 1, and today an email arrived from Leamington Half HQ informing me that the July 11 race date will go ahead.
Today’s bonus was confirmation that two more grants for needy self-employed musicians will be paid. That they cover to the end of September is of slight concern, considering that England is preparing for a rescheduled Saturnalia on June 21, but I’m sure the UK Government knows what it’s doing.
Proof that I've managed to find other things to do during lockdown comes with the publication of the latest Chatterbox. Sales continue to suffer during restrictions but I'm optimistic about that too.
