Hanging By A Thread

September, one month to go until the Loch Ness Marathon, training is going well, my ankle’s no worse, but I still have a sneaking feeling that come October 3 I’ll be running my emergency back-up Virtual London Marathon.
Yesterday, as Covid surged throughout Scotland, Wee Nicola proposed vaccine passports for, among others, outdoor events of 4,000+ people – which just happens to be the marathon’s upper limit – and warned that restrictions could be tightened if the infection rate doesn’t improve.
Today, the marathon organisers cancelled the kids fun run which takes place the same day; 5k and 10k runners must be wondering if they’re next.
What will be, will be. At least there was some good news today: two brand new songs from Abba, an album to come in November and a venue under construction in London to house a holographic stage show of the band as it was in its prime. That will definitely be my pre-race treat if I ever get to run the real London Marathon again.
