Dodging The Wind
by Russell Turner - 19:25 on 30 January 2022
That’s Week 3 of London Landmarks training ticked off, and eight miles completed today – the longest all-run run since the Yorkshire 10 Mile in October. I should have done it yesterday but couldn’t face the wind and the rain.
After last week’s unimpressive not-quite-seven-mile run-and-walk, today’s went much more to plan, at a sensible pace and with a reasonably low heart rate. So why my legs feel so tired, and my hurty heel twinges, is a mystery. All should be OK tomorrow. More gales are forecast for then, but as I’m not running I don’t care.
Next week begins on Tuesday, the anniversary of my snowy 10k, with the first set of intervals for more than four months. Although much panting may be involved, I’m quite looking forward to them – as long as the wind has dropped. Running hard into the wind isn’t fun, although the practice could be useful. Matchgirl warns me that there can be a lot of it in the last quarter of the Edinburgh Marathon…
