A Bit of a Surprise
by admin - 22:41 on 08 April 2010
Tonight was the grand climax of Cromarty Camera Club's season – a social gathering followed by the presentation of trophies won during the previous months and the naming of the winners of best colour print, best mono print and best projected image (what would have been best slide in ye olden days of film).
I didn't feature at all, as silverware and certificates were dished out left, right and centre, so the announcement that I was joint photographer of the year (alongside Chairman John) was a bit of a surprise as well as unexpected. The winner has the best average competition score throughout the season, so it's a reward for consistency, which is gratifying.
My prize was a half-share in a stylish silver quaich (when it's back from being engraved) and the opportunity to grin inanely, along with my fellow winners, from the pages of the Ross-shire Journal when the group snap is published with a report of our photographic deeds.
So what was my favourite of my photos in twelve months that included African snappery and RPS success? Ironically, one that was taken in the garden and won nothing – a chilly blue tit.
