Rain Stopped Play
by admin - 20:57 on 23 April 2010
St George's Day may have been a day of sun and fun in England, but Scotland suffered rain, wind and – on the Black Isle at least – sleet on high ground. It's probably a conspiracy.
As a result, the latest photographic expedition planned by Andrew, Dolphin James and me spent most of its time in the comfort of the Crofters in Rosemarkie where snapping was replaced by planning.
The few snaps I managed today were taken earlier, in the garden, before the light failed completely. Two woodpeckers were sighted, at different times, but the only portraits to survive quality control were of more humble subjects: sparrows.
Moggy Update: Bess has shown little inclination for activity today; the convalescent spent most of it in her basket or on her mat. Matchgirl, who's a soft touch, even allowed her to enjoy lunch in bed by placing her dish close enough for her to dine without getting up. The poor puss deserves it.
Not a couple, if my identification's correct – a male house sparrow and a female chaffinch.
