Bess is at serious risk of developing a drug habit. The ailing moggy returned from Dr Death's surgery this morning with a new supply of medication and pumped full of antibiotics to deter infection made possible by burst stitches where her broken canine used to be. Poor puss.
She was more lively for a while, even demanding food and taking an unaccompanied wander in the garden, but later on she retired to her mat, her expression again downcast. Poor puss.
Matchgirl will take her back to see Dr Death on Thursday, when there's expected to be much improvement in the invalid's condition.
However, Matchgirl's taking no chances. She's decided to miss the weekend bike club jaunt to the Trossachs and stay home to pamper her pet.
There's no doubt who comes first in Matchgirl's affections. Poor me.
