An Easy Mistake To Make
by admin - 23:47 on 10 May 2010
Today was spent quietly at home with Bess, who passed most of it asleep in her basket or on the bed after waking me at 3am and 6am. Cats have a cruel sense of humour.
The edge of the Arctic winds that currently batter snowy Shetland were no incentive to leave The Rural Retreat so I stayed in with a good book and occasional breaks to watch the avian action.
Only three snaps survived quality control, and that was being generous to at least two of them, but I had to keep something to show for my efforts, especially as I spurned another opportunity to resume my writing career.
Ferry Update: Matchgirl hadn't won a return ferry trip for two between Aberdeen and Shetland; her prize was a £10 voucher towards the hire of a JCB. An easy mistake to make.
This was a great disappointment, for I'd looked forward to our marine adventure even if Matchgirl was less excited by the prospect. It seems that if the trip happens we'll have to pay for it ourselves, so it's fortunate that my future as an oil baron looks increasingly bright. Share prices rose again today.
How Matchgirl intends to get the JCB from Lerwick to the Black Isle she didn't say.
