A Visitor Worth The Wait

Master Marten let me down tonight – he didn't appear until after 10.30, which was hopeless for snappery purposes.
On the brighter side, there was still light enough for me to see him, and with no focus or zoom to think about I was able to enjoy his antics as he clambered around the garden gate, gobbled his Nutella, investigated The Nutella Tree to see of there was more (there was), then hurried away with a hen's egg in his jaws.
However impatient I am for him to appear in better light, Matchgirl and I are lucky to have such a visitor, and we know it. He's a star.
Photographic pickings have been slim today, what with one thing and another. The best I could come up with was some of The Rural Retreat's native flora – something we'll have to make the most of before the garden's overwhelmed by an alien invader.
The mystery plant that's appeared around Bess's willow tree has been identified as Japanese knotweed, a rampaging menace that's difficult to shift, so Google tells us. The time may have come to invest in Ramblingbloke's weed-burning stick.
Other news of oriental garden-dwellers is more positive: Kawasaki San has a new rear tyre and can once more go around corners. Shame we've had a typical bank holiday weather forecast.
