A Star of the Fringe

by admin - 22:31 on 10 August 2010

Master Marten is to be one of the stars of the Edinburgh Fringe, I learned today. Who'd have thought it?

The top thirty snaps submitted to the SNH Biodiversity Week photo competition are to be exhibited at Edinburgh Zoo later this month, and Master Marten will be among them.

Truth to tell, I was disappointed when I read the email that informed me of this stellar event because I assumed it meant I was an also-ran in the competition, not one of the winning top three. However, there's no sign of a victor's name or snap on the SNH website so maybe I'm still in with a chance of the top prize of a day's training with a professional wildlife snapper.

Unless one of Dolphin James's gannets flew away with the laurels and he ticked the box for no publicity.

Marten 30

I don't even know which of my two submissions will be shown, for the email didn't specify which had caught the judges' eye. Maybe I felt something in the wind. The snap on yesterday's blog was one of my submissions; the one above was the other.

The exhibition – which really is an official Fringe event – is on from August 18-31. Entry is free, but you'll probably have to pay to get into the zoo. I'm sure my invitation's in the post.

Well done Russell! No e-mail for me so I guess we wont be fringe neighbours. :-(
