A Step Back In Time

by admin - 21:46 on 15 August 2010

The weather gods have been uncharacteristically kind this weekend – the Colossal Celebration of the Centuries at Fort George took place beneath bright blue skies and in glorious sunshine.

I expected to return with a memory card filled with snaps of the various re-enactment societies which took part: from Romans and Vikings to Second World War Home Guard. However, my favourite was of two demonstration dancers who jived away in front of That Swing Sensation. I suspect the band knew that the electric five-string bass was a bit anachronistic.

Dancers

By good luck and a small amount of judgement I caught the dancers in a really good pose. Unfortunately, in the background I also caught a spectator with a garish shirt. Photoshop investigations are under way to learn how to change its colour to something less eye-catching.

The highlight of the day was an aerobatic display by a Spitfire, which proved as difficult to snap as a leaping dolphin, but I caught it in the end. Maybe it's time to get back to Chanonry Point.

Moggy Update: Bess was in our bedroom again – loudly – at six this morning. Her return to her old self continues to gather pace.
