A Face at the Window
by admin - 23:35 on 10 November 2010
No pine marten sightings were made during the last two evenings, although a face was seen peering in through the window on both nights.
It belonged to Romeo, so the lack of wildlife is maybe no surprise. The cheeky moggy also stole the ex-rodent I left outside. Fortunately, he showed no interest in eggs or Nutella, all of which were gone this morning, so Master Marten (or whoever) at least got a midnight snack.
The Rural Retreat was tonight shared by just me and Bess, for Matchgirl left today for the bright lights of cosmopolitan Aberdeen. She claims it's a business trip, but I suspect she's gone to the capital of the UK's oil industry to pick up more investment tips. There's still no news from the Falklands.
So it's been a quiet evening – a pleasure after a day spent at GNoME HQ where the hacking and coughing of three-quarters of the inmates sounded like the interior of a TB ward. The chances of me being plague-free when Matchgirl returns could be low.
