Making Free With Master Marten

by admin - 21:13 on 01 February 2011

I discovered today that Master Marten and I have become victims of blatant copyright theft.

Among the zillions of Flickr groups is one called Giant Animals (I refuse to include a link) in which its forty-six members post snaps of a variety of mammals with tiny Photoshopped humans clinging to them.

Yes – quite bizarre.

My first thought was that this is some kind of deadly serious art school collaboration, but there's no evidence of that. The group simply seems to be for people to have fun in their own strange way. It could be a lot worse.

However, among their manipulated mammals are two snaps of Master Marten, used without permission or attribution. The cheek of it.

The purloined picture, without the digital additions

I've sent FlickrMails to the offending Photoshopper and his group administrator to ask for attribution to be added (as I'm a reasonable person) or for the images to be removed. If I get no response I'll complain to Flickr's copyright watchdogs.

Matchgirl was outraged, but not as much as she would have been had Bess been interfered with. Nobody messes with her beloved moggy.

I have looked at the offending flickr site, I think it is very cruel to make a show of Master Marten like that! I agree they person responsible should have asked your permission before doing such a thing, they should be made to at least acknowledge that they are in the wrong for breaking copyright rulesand apologise for it.
I did notice however it did say the original photo was taken by bassman99 with a link to your flickr page.

That's appeared since I complained!
