An Appointment With The Press

Marten James and Andrew made a notable sacrifice following our interview today by Calum Macleod, the Inverness Courier's features writer.
After an in-depth grilling he handed us over to the paper's award-winning snapper, Gary Anthony, (Highland Press Photographer of the Year for the past two years) who took us the short distance from GNoME HQ to Inverness Marina where he could get an award-winning snap of three wind-blown snappers with the Black Isle in the background.
But that wasn't the sacrifice: the two Canon aficionados, who'd failed to bring their own cameras with them, had to pose behind the Nikon that's standard issue for GnoME's photographic elite, as well as listen to Gary enthuse about it. Such pain.
The results should appear in the paper in two weeks' time, just before The Official Launch. If it appears on the Courier website I'll post a link.
More snappery-related activity took place yesterday evening when Cromarty Camera Club held its portfolio competition. This was the one I won last year, but this time I failed to rate a mention – so at least I've been consistent this year.
Portfolios had to have a theme across four prints so mine featured Bess in a quartet of winsome poses. How could the judges resist? Very easily, it seemed. Matchgirl was most indignant. So was I.
I suspect I was marked down for the above snap (cropped a touch and with the mark on her eye removed), which shows the resident moggy in a rather unsharp style. I don't care – I liked the mood, and the feline star deserves some fashionable soft focus.
She continues to pose in great style, as proved by the snap below (which wasn't one of my entries). This was taken a few days ago in her favourite tree. What a show-off
